Drew Swan Obituary, Wisconsin, Athens Academy Mourns Student Death

Drew Swan Obituary, Death – Drew Swan was a “landmark” at Athens Academy after 16 years of attendance, sports director Kevin Petroski said on Tuesday. Swan passed away on Monday night following injuries he received in a skateboarding accident on Saturday afternoon. Swan graduated in May and was scheduled to run track at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.

“He was entrenched in the school both as a student and as an athlete,” Petroski stated. “During the summer, he worked here at the camps. He was constantly present because his mother was employed at the school. He’s just a wonderful young man, an excellent leader, and someone who truly enjoys life.” Swan was a standout member of the Athens Academy track and field team, placing third in the Class A Private state meet in May.

He was also an all-area football selection and linebacker. His finish in the 800-meter run was second. Throughout the season, he also competed in the 300-meter hurdles and anchored the 4×400 relay. “The children looked up to him as a leader. However, Petroski added, “the youngsters loved being around Drew because of his charisma and enthusiasm while he was playing a competitive and athletic activity.

“… Those races are pretty much back-to-back and he did it with a smile on his face and was infectious within the programs he was a part of.” Swan’s disposition and upbeat outlook translated into his position as the football team’s defensive coordinator, helping them make it to the state playoffs.
